Pinkberry. My New Obsession.

Frozen yogurt (or froyo, as we all lovingly call it), used to be a mystery to me. Why buy something that tastes like a less sweet, fake Louis Vuitton version of ice cream? And why can't froyo taste like yogurt? I never could quite wrap my head around it. Until now.

Introduce Pinkberry. Smooth like soft serve, tastes like cold original yogurt. Currently in LA and NYC -- and soon to be Kuwait (lucky you P!), I was a Pinkberry virgin until my weekend's excursion to NYC. I am now obsessed, and long for Pinkberry in my own city. Boston is lacking in the froyo department, and it's a shame. My Pinkberry pick? Original with raspberries and strawberries. However, there are topping combinations for everyone's liking. From Cap'n Crunch to Coco Pebbles to kiwi and berries. Feeling adventurous? Try the pomegranate flavor! I love with every ounce of my junk food's heart. The best part? An original small only has 150 calories and if you're in the NYC area, enjoy Swirls on Wheels. The best delivery since Dominos.

Enjoy, and have an extra bite for me!

Starburst Fave-REDs

A silver lining to the cloud of a postponed Opening Day, while gazing at my Pandora page, I saw an ad for Starburst FaveReds flavors. I don't know who left me off the memo for this product, but seriously, it's my candy dream come true! Ever since I was little, I would buy packs of Starburst candies only to pick out the pink and reds, eat them, and toss the orange and (ew) yellows. I sense a new movie theater snack coming to my purse as soon as possible. Yum!

Dean & DeLuca opens in Kuwait!

Right when I was having a Felicity moment...Dean & DeLuca opens in Kuwait...woohoo...it's a combo of the store & cafe and apparently the largest (and possibly first?) one in the Middle East...

I scream, You Scream (and so does Jonathan Papelbon)

I just found this linked off of the Boston Magazine's daily blog. To keep this post on the fast track to the point, please read this ever important passage.

"How does the closer feel about the idea of pitching on Monday?
'Question mark…I’m going to come to the field (Monday) to find out. We’ll see,' said Papelbon, who then asked reporters whether he had chocolate ice cream on his face."

To set the frantic tone of the importance of the initial question. The Sox were up in the series against the Angels 2-0. Best of 5 series. They could have swept it last night, but instead, lost 5-4 in 12 innings. The Sox only beat the Angels once all season long, but maintained some sort of ridiculous string of post-season wins against them. After winning two on the road, they lost at Fenway, made me get not enough sleep, and caused all of Boston to give a melodious groan at 1am last night. Lowell is hurt like an old man, and you know he's not playing tonight. Papelbon threw for two innings again last night, putting him in the 'question mark' status.

The Sox need to pull through tonight, because otherwise, it's game 5, back on the road. We don't want to risk having to win another away game, against a team that kicked our butt for the better part of the season. I dont want to have to stay up for another West Coast game (hello 10pm start time). Please, don't put me through this kind of emotional turmoil.

However, what is on Papelbon's mind? Not the fact that we're a win away from going onto the ALCS. Not tonight. But his chocolate ice cream? Part of it is lovable -- he's just like that college guy you probably had a crush on. Kind of goofy. Good at sports. Nice blonde hair and -- well -- we know of Papelbon's best asset. But seriously though, what was he doing eating ice cream? It was well near 35 degrees outside when the game finally ended last night. Wasn't he cold? Is ice cream what he uses to ease his broken soul after an extra inning loss? Why would he ask reporters if he had it on his face - this is a clear cry for a need for a girlfriend to answer these questions for him, and not the WEEI reporters.

Oh well, I guess. As long as he saves me a bite. I'm partical to sprinkles.

Hitting the bars...

Went to the bar the other night...the Chocolate Bar, that is. Believe me when I say every hour is happy hour!!

Living in a country where alcohol is illegal and nightlife options are severely limited, our fav. pastimes here are a) eating and b) shopping. :) Usually makes for a good time; eat hella lot and then go shopping - cardio to burn off the calories...works out just fine.
Checking out the crowd was super fun...there was a heavily pregnant woman and her husband (I wonder if she was having cravings?)...a group of 5-6 young Arab women chatting about something or the other over obnoxious amounts of dessert (can't blame them) and a group for 3 Kuwaiti guys just chilling together at the table next to us. The guys looked like they were in their early 30s at least and it was an interesting sight. It is quite rare to see a group of single men just chilling and eating dinner (at least in the States) and to see them...esp. at an exclusively dessert-filled place (with pink/brown interiors) was reallly interesting. Good for them, getting their dessert on without giving a damn! :)
S . and I ordered fries (or "chips" as she calls them...so cute, gotta love the Brits), a diet Coke (for her), water (for me) and a milk chocolate truffle cake (the 1st pic for me) and milk chocolate molten cake (2nd for S.)...they are basically the same except in S.'s view, the truffle cake "is more cake-y" and the molten cake is "more chocolate-y"...regardless, they were amazing gooey-chocolate-y little treats. Of course, we started and finished the whole process with fries "to cleanse the palette!"
